About Move Oʻahu Forward
Our Beginning
Since 2012, Move O‘ahu Forward (MOF) has been a dedicated advocate for rail transit, bringing together government, business, and community in support of a better-connected Honolulu. Initially formed by leaders across Hawai‘i’s industries, MOF’s mission was to educate O‘ahu’s residents on the benefits of rail transit, advocating for a transportation network that is reliable, efficient, and accessible for everyone.
Our Mission
MOF’s mission is to support the thoughtful, inclusive growth of Oʻahu’s communities through transit-oriented development. By advocating for collaborative solutions, promoting sustainable infrastructure, and maintaining the uniqueness of neighborhoods across Honolulu, MOF is committed to building a bright future for Oʻahu. Through our partnerships with government, business and community, we are working to help make Oʻahu more connected, accessible, and resilient for generations to come.
Our Evolution
With the first segment of the rail system becoming operational 2023, Move O‘ahu Forward has pivoted its focus toward transit-oriented development (TOD). Our goal is to maximize the opportunity that rail provides by fostering community-centered development around each station, ensuring that rail becomes the foundation for inclusive, thriving neighborhoods.
Our Commitment
Together with our partners, MOF continues to advocate for infrastructure that serves O‘ahu’s residents and preserves the unique character of our communities.
